Brookfield Infrastructure Partners is undertaking a significant development at the former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in West Paducah, Kentucky. This ambitious project, named the Paducah AI Campus, is a public-private initiative with an estimated private investment of $100 billion. The campus aims to deliver 1.2 gigawatts (GW) of AI compute power, with operations slated to begin around 2031.

This initiative is powered by a partnership with NextEra Energy, which will construct and fund new on-site natural gas-fired power plants to provide dedicated electricity for the data center. The site benefits from existing infrastructure from its previous use, including transmission capacity, water lines, fiber connectivity, and road access, which will accelerate development. The project was announced by the U.S. Department of Energy in July 2026, following a DOE solicitation process initiated in late 2025.
