The original Project Lincoln: OC Data Center proposal by Western Hospitality Partners (WHP) in La Grange, Kentucky, has undergone a significant transformation following community opposition. Initially planned as an eight-building, 2.5 million-square-foot campus on a 267-acre site along Highway 53, the project has now been relocated and downsized.
The revised plan shifts the development approximately five miles south to 3210 DW Griffith Lane, the current site of the Sauerbeck Family Drive-In. The new location—zoned for industrial use and situated between a railroad and Interstate 71—will host two data center buildings totaling 312,000 square feet, with an estimated investment of $1.5 billion, down from the original $6 billion proposal.
WHP cited extensive community feedback as the reason for the change, emphasizing its continued commitment to Oldham County. The new site is adjacent to the Dynegy power plant and Louisville Gas & Electric’s Buckner substation, offering favorable infrastructure conditions. A Conditional Use Permit has been filed, and the drive-in theater is expected to relocate.
Despite a recently enacted 150-day moratorium on new data center applications in the county, the revised Project Lincoln is expected to proceed, as its application was submitted beforehand. The project still aims to deliver long-term economic benefits, including tax revenue and support for local services, while addressing prior concerns about scale and location.
This is a campus listing, that covers multiple data centers.
