Riot Platforms’ Calvert City facility, also known as the Blue Steel site, is a 25 MW Bitcoin mining operation located in western Kentucky. Acquired through Riot’s 2024 purchase of Block Mining, the site offers expansion potential up to 55 MW, with 18 MW currently vacant and ready for immediate ASIC deployment. Riot plans to fill this capacity primarily with existing miners, accelerating its self-mining growth.

Strategically positioned near robust power infrastructure, the facility benefits from access to low-cost electricity via the Tennessee Valley Authority and participation in MISO demand response programs, which allow Riot to dynamically manage power loads and optimize costs. The site is also supported by a strong local workforce and favorable regulatory conditions.

As part of Riot’s broader Kentucky expansion, Blue Steel complements the company’s Paducah and Coleman Road sites, contributing to a combined 305 MW development pipeline across the state. This facility plays a key role in Riot’s national diversification strategy and its goal of reaching 100 EH/s of self-mining capacity.
