Rubix Russell Campus

Rubix Russell Campus, located in Ashland, Kentucky, is a proposed hyperscale data center development on a 425-acre brownfield site formerly occupied by AK Steel. The project, spearheaded by Rubix Data Centers, a subsidiary of Spain-based Submer Group, plans to construct eight two-story buildings with a total capacity of up to 2GW. The estimated investment for the data center infrastructure ranges from $8 to $12 billion. The facility is projected to create over 200 full-time jobs with an average annual compensation of $125,000, and generate tens of millions of dollars in annual tax revenue for the local community. The data center is expected to consume approximately 55 million gallons of water annually and will draw power from AEP-KY. The project aims to revitalize a former industrial site and contribute significantly to the local economy through job creation and tax revenue.
