LightEdge - Boone

LightEdge, a US colocation firm, is planning a new data center development in Boone, Iowa, located approximately 48 miles northwest of Des Moines. The facility, to be developed by Edge Boone LLC at 1920 Lakewood Drive, is situated on ten acres within the Boone Business Park. The project has received site plan approval from the City of Boone and will not seek tax incentives. While full project details are not yet public, LightEdge has indicated that up to 46MW of power could eventually be available from utility provider Alliant. The data center will commence with a smaller power load, with the potential to scale significantly over many years based on customer demand. LightEdge has committed to using a closed-loop cooling system to minimize water consumption. Founded in 1996 and acquired by GI Partners in 2021, LightEdge operates multiple data centers across the US.
