The South Bend facility was designed and built by industry leading firms Turner Construction and Environmental Systems Design (ESD). The vast experience of both firms ensures high-quality performance and strong infrastructure.
The one foot thick pre-cast concrete walls are designed to withstand winds of 200 mph and F3 Tornados. The facility has 10MW total power, brought in by geographically diverse substations each independently able to handle the full load. The cooling capacity of the facility is 2,000 tons. The green cooling design offers flexible options such as water based cooling system, which uses ambient air cooling when possible and contains and reuses the heat in the facility as well. There are redundant generators on site with fuel load to last up to 55 hours.
Security and monitoring systems are used 24x7x365 covering 100% of facility interior and exterior. The data center facility is a hardened structure and the equipment yard is surrounded with a 26 foot tall steel security fence. The exterior of building is protected by motion and heat sensors. The facility will use revolutionary electric power distribution system for mission critical markets to allow instantaneous trapping - without losing uptime. Fire suppression system used is ECARO 25 storing as a liquid and released as a gas Additional smoke system VESDA in all data center core rooms protects using highly sensitive detectors of smoke which is presented to online system and accessible to Customers.
Maintenance on equipment and generators are exercised quarterly and in accordance with manufacture recommendations. All Customers will have visibility of maintenance schedule. The fuel system tested and conditioned daily with diesel fuel polishing system.
