Eagle Rock Partners has proposed a significant data center development in Christian County, Illinois. The project, named Eagle Rock Christian County, is slated to be an 8.8 billion dollar campus spanning 475 acres. It is planned to feature ten 100MW data center buildings.
The proposed location is south of E 1100 North Road, west of N 900 East Road, north of County Road 1000 North, and east of N 800 East Road in Bear Creek Township, near Taylorville.
According to Eagle Rock founding partner Ken Loeber, the facility aims to utilize closed-loop cooling. Construction is not anticipated to commence until 2029 or 2030, even if the project receives approval.
The proposal has faced some local opposition, with a petition calling for a moratorium on data center developments in Christian County and for independent studies and public hearings.
