CyrusOne - Talkington Township DC2

CyrusOne Data Centers is proposing a significant new data center development in Talkington Township, Illinois, located 14 miles southwest of Springfield. The company has filed for a conditional permitted use to develop a 600MW campus on a 280-acre site in Sangamon County.

The proposed development, which could involve six buildings each approximately 250,000 sq ft, represents one of CyrusOne's larger campus projects. Construction is anticipated to commence next year, with the initial phase expected to be operational by 2027. The site is strategically chosen for its power infrastructure, skilled workforce, and location, and is situated near Swift Current Energy's Double Black Diamond solar farm.

CyrusOne, owned by KKR, operates over 50 data centers globally and has existing facilities in Illinois. This project aims to provide economic benefits and tax revenue to the community, while securing the necessary resources for a large-scale data center operation.
