Savion Renewable Energy is proposing the Plano Skies Campus, a data center development to be located off Rock Creek Road in Plano, Illinois. This campus is planned as part of Savion's larger 250MW Plano Skies Energy Center, a solar generation facility. The proposed data center campus would consist of seven buildings, each with its own backup generation unit, alongside a switch substation and DC substation. Cooling system details are still under finalization. The project aims to provide substantial economic benefits to the community. Savion, a Kansas-based renewable energy company and a Shell Group portfolio company, develops utility-scale solar and storage technologies across 28 US states. The data center proposal is undergoing an approval process that will involve the Plano Commission, with revised plans previously incorporating an agricultural buffer and a reduced footprint.
