Amazon Data Services has purchased approximately 1,000 acres in Barnesville, Georgia, located 55 miles south of Atlanta. The acquisition, valued at $270 million, secures land on the west side of Interstate 75 near Exit 198, formerly part of the Legacy 75 Trade Center.
The site is zoned for up to 19 million square feet of industrial development and was previously earmarked for mixed-use purposes, including residential and quarry operations. Amazon has yet to reveal specific plans, but pre-construction meetings with local authorities are expected soon.
If developed into a data center, the Barnesville campus would represent a significant expansion of Amazon’s infrastructure in Georgia, leveraging the region’s connectivity and land availability.
