DirecTV Castle Rock

The DirecTV Castle Rock Broadcast Center, located in Castle Rock, Colorado, is a critical 10-acre facility for DirecTV's nationwide satellite television service, supporting over 10 million subscribers 24/7. It was the first all-digital broadcast facility in North America.

The center receives and compiles satellite and fiber-optic transmissions, which are then uplinked to broadcasting satellites. The facility houses extensive technical operations, including a broadcast operations center, dubbing and editing rooms, control rooms, and high-power amplifier rooms. It also features numerous uplink and tracking antennas, a generator building, and a telemetry, tracking, and control station.

A significant expansion project added 32,000 square feet, incorporating state-of-the-art redundant operating systems and FM200 fire suppression. The project involved substantial underground utility work and focused on seamless integration with existing sensitive operations to ensure uninterrupted broadcast signals.
