650 Harry Road

Blackstart Digital is set to acquire the former IBM Almaden Research Center, located at 650 Harry Road in San Jose, California. This significant data center development project will transform the 35-acre former research campus into a new facility. The site comprises seven buildings totaling over 500,000 sq ft and is already equipped with a 25MW substation, which Blackstart aims to expand. The campus boasts over 500 acres of open space, which Blackstart plans to preserve. The acquisition follows a rezoning of the campus to an industrial park zoning district by the San Jose City Council. Blackstart Digital, a California-based company co-founded by Chadwick Manning, aims to honor the legacy of innovation from the site, which was home to developments like the first inkjet printer prototype and the relational database.
