The Guadalupe Quarry Redevelopment Project in Brisbane, California, has been significantly scaled down in response to environmental concerns. The development, led by Orchard Partners LLC, now includes a 180,000-square-foot data center and accompanying industrial space on 62 acres of a 144-acre site. The remaining 82 acres are designated for ecological preservation.

The revision follows community feedback, with building heights lowered from 100 to 80 feet and planned warehouse uses reduced by up to 70 percent. The goal is to minimize truck traffic, reduce environmental disruption, and protect local wildlife, including endangered butterfly species native to the San Bruno Mountain area.

Despite proposed benefits such as over 560 construction jobs and a $1.8 million contribution to habitat conservation, the project still faces public opposition. Some groups argue that the location is inappropriate for industrial development, citing risks to sensitive species and long-term ecological impact.
