Rufford Colliery Data Center

Harworth Group is proposing the development of a new data center at the former Rufford Colliery site in Mansfield, United Kingdom. This project, with an estimated construction cost of £100 million, is part of a larger plan that includes the development of 400 new homes. The proposed data center will be accompanied by a new electrical substation and a battery storage facility. The site, located on the Rainworth Bypass, was previously home to the Rufford Colliery, which operated from 1911 until its closure in 1993. The development aims to bring significant employment opportunities, supporting 250 jobs during the six-year construction phase and 162 jobs once operational. The site has remained vacant since a previous proposal for a waste incinerator was rejected in 2011.
