Ark Data Centres' planned Elstree Campus marks a strategic redevelopment of the former Mercure Hotel site. This upcoming data center will be built from the ground up to accommodate high-density computing and AI-focused workloads, reflecting Ark’s commitment to modern, resilient infrastructure.

Positioned near major transport routes like the M1 and M25, the Elstree site offers prime accessibility for logistics, connectivity, and operational efficiency. The development is projected to generate significant employment opportunities, both during its construction and ongoing operations.

Ark Data Centres’ Elstree Campus is set to become the largest data center development in London, delivering 250 MVA of power starting in 2028. Designed for hyperscale and AI workloads, the campus will feature six or more data centers with a total compute capacity nearing 200 MW, all backed by Tier III resilience.

The facility will use sustainable modular steel architecture for rapid deployment and reduced environmental impact. Cooling technologies include direct air, indirect air, and liquid cooling systems, each optimized for high efficiency and low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). These systems support dense compute environments while minimizing energy consumption and carbon footprint.

The campus is expected to be fully operational by 2029. Its design prioritizes scalability, compliance, and low-latency connectivity, integrating certifications such as ISO 27001, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, PCI DSS, and others. With its strategic location and forward-thinking engineering, Elstree represents a major expansion of Ark’s London footprint.
