CX Technology Campus, located in Annan, United Kingdom, is a significant proposed data center development by CX Tech Limited. The project, situated at the former Chapelcross nuclear power station site, involves an estimated investment of £16.5 billion (approximately US$21.8 billion).
The campus is designed to feature eight individual data center buildings, collectively offering around 1GW of total capacity, with each building providing approximately 120MW. The infrastructure will span up to 162,000 square metres, dedicated to advanced digital and high-performance computing.
Construction is planned in phases from 2027 to 2035, pending planning approvals. The development is expected to create approximately 750 construction jobs, 450 permanent operational roles, and 40 annual apprenticeships during the build phase.
Sustainability is a core focus, with direct-wire connections to local and regional renewable energy sources and proximity to an existing 132kV grid supply point. The design incorporates closed-loop, non-evaporative air cooling systems to conserve water. The project aims for net-zero operations, aligning with the UK Green Building Council framework for low-carbon lifecycle operations.
