Apatura East Ayrshire

Apatura has filed plans for a major data center development near Ochiltree, East Ayrshire, Scotland. The project, submitted under Apatura DC Project 12 Ltd, outlines a flexible campus design spanning 24.5 hectares just south of Creoch Farm, close to the former Killoch Colliery. It includes one or more low-rise buildings totaling around 45,000 square meters of floorspace, with an anticipated IT load of 200MW—one of the largest proposed in Scotland to date.

The site will feature a roof-mounted solar system, its own on-site substation, and connect via underground cable to the nearby Killoch Substation, just 500 meters away. The entire build is expected to take around three years, though no end user has been announced yet. Apatura positions this project as a strategic step in Scotland’s transition to a net-zero digital economy, leveraging the region’s untapped renewable energy potential and grid access.

Apatura’s broader infrastructure pipeline includes 10.6GW of grid-secured energy, with 1.8GW earmarked for data center developments. The company specializes in land acquisition, energy storage, and utility-scale renewables, and this project cements its ambition to elevate Scotland as a prime destination for hyperscale digital infrastructure.
