The IONOS Worcester data center, located at Worcester Six Business Park in the UK, is one of the company’s most advanced and secure facilities. Opened in 2022 with a £21 million investment, it was purpose-built to Tier IV standards and has since achieved official Tier IV certification from the Uptime Institute, the highest level of fault tolerance and availability in the industry. Strategically positioned on the UK’s “fibre figure of eight,” it connects directly to the IONOS backbone network with an external capacity of 3,000 Gbps, ensuring exceptional connectivity and resilience.
The 43,700 sq ft site includes a 30,700 sq ft data hall and nearly 13,000 sq ft of ancillary office space, designed with a modular architecture that allows each module to operate independently and supports future expansion. The facility features fully redundant power, cooling, and network systems, with N+1 or 2N configurations across critical infrastructure. Physical security is reinforced through multi-factor access controls, 24/7 surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter monitoring.
Sustainability is integral to the Worcester site’s design. The entire roof is fitted with solar photovoltaic panels generating up to 800 kW, covering around 10% of the site’s energy needs, and all construction-related carbon for the building envelope has been offset. Energy-efficient cooling, cold aisle containment, and ISO 50001-certified energy management further reduce environmental impact, making it IONOS’ most modern and environmentally friendly UK data center to date.
