Blackdog Data Center Campus

The Blackdog Data Center Campus is a proposed multi-billion-pound development on a 200-acre site north of Aberdeen, Scotland. Spearheaded by Ashfield Land and data center specialist TechRE, the project aims to establish a multi-gigawatt campus, positioning the region as a hub for global digital infrastructure. Initial plans include 600 megawatts of renewable and grid-connected power, with energy potentially sourced from offshore wind farms like ScotWind and INTOG developments via private-wire connections. The site, which includes a former Ministry of Defence firing range, has received planning permission in principle for business and industrial uses from Aberdeenshire Council in 2017. The development is expected to create significant construction and high-skilled jobs, attracting international investment. The project's scale and focus on renewable energy make it attractive for AI computing demand, with potential connections to subsea cables and access to abundant wind energy resources.
