CSCS Swiss National Supercomputing Centre

The Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), operated by ETH Zurich in Lugano, Switzerland, is a leading facility for high-performance computing (HPC). It offers essential HPC services to address complex scientific and societal challenges, fostering world-class research. CSCS provides scientists with advanced computing infrastructure, technical expertise, and scientific skills to support their work. Its resources are accessible to national and international academia, as well as industry users, through a User Lab model. The centre boasts a 2,000 square meter pillar-free machine hall and is designed for power loads scaling up to 25 megawatts. A key feature is its sustainable cooling system, utilizing cold water pumped directly from Lake Lugano. CSCS also offers substantial storage capacity, with 100 PB online and 240 PB on tape for archiving and backup, connected via a 400 Gbit/s network.
