Infomaniak D4

Infomaniak D4, located in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva, Switzerland, is a pioneering underground data center that operates with exceptional environmental efficiency. Since its operation began in January 2025, D4 has been designed to recover 100% of the heat generated by its approximately 10,000 servers. This recovered heat is then redirected to warm up to 6,000 homes through the city's district heating network, eliminating the need for traditional cooling systems and preventing energy waste. Powered entirely by renewable electricity, D4 demonstrates that data centers can be net contributors to their communities. The facility boasts a 1.25 MW IT consumption and approximately 1.7 MW of heat recovery capacity. Infomaniak is committed to transparency, making the full project documentation, including architecture, technology, and lessons learned, open-source for replication. The data center's design emphasizes sustainability, innovation, and efficiency, with real-time monitoring available for PUE and ERF.
