FlexBase Technology Center

The FlexBase Technology Center, located in Laufenburg, Switzerland, is a significant 40,000 sqm technology hub focused on energy and artificial intelligence. The project includes the development of the world's largest redox flow battery storage system, designed for sustainability and grid stabilization. It also features a sovereign AI data center, described as a 'Sovereign AI Factory,' built with high security and scalability for hyperscalers. The center aims to integrate renewable energy sources with advanced storage and AI capabilities, utilizing waste heat for local district heating. Construction began in spring 2025, with a planned completion between 2025 and 2028. The site leverages its historical significance as the 'Star of Laufenburg,' the first location where German, French, and Swiss power networks interconnected. The initiative is expected to generate over 300 highly qualified jobs and foster collaboration with universities and technology companies.
