Blackstone is significantly expanding its data center footprint into Spain through a large-scale campus in Calatorao, Zaragoza, to be operated by its subsidiary, QTS Data Centers. This ambitious project, reportedly known as Project Rodes, is situated on a 224-hectare site. The initial development will utilize half of the site, with plans for a further investment to develop the remaining area. Upon full operation, the data center is projected to have an electrical capacity of 300MW. Blackstone acquired QTS in 2021 and has since committed substantial investment to data center development, driven by the AI boom. This Spanish campus joins QTS's existing European presence in Groningen, Netherlands, and planned developments in the UK. Aragon is strategically positioned as a growing hub for data center infrastructure in Southern Europe.
