DayOne Aragon

DayOne Aragon is a proposed major technology campus located in Escatrón, Spain, near a gas power plant operated by Ignis. The project involves an investment exceeding 3 billion euros and aims to capitalize on the site's key advantages for the digital industry, including land availability, access to water for cooling, and crucially, assured electrical capacity. The adjacent Ignis Peaker plant has a generation capacity of 274.6 megawatts, with plans to add over 311 megawatts from hybrid wind and solar projects. This initiative aligns with Ignis's strategy to attract new electricity demand, particularly from data centers, by utilizing its growing renewable generation. The project benefits from Spanish regulations allowing generation facility owners to request demand capacity for self-consumption, up to 50% of their authorized generation capacity. This combination of renewable energy for low-cost, low-carbon power and gas-fired plants for continuous supply is ideal for demanding workloads like AI and cloud computing, positioning Escatrón as a significant digital hub.
