The CAIB CPD ParcBit, located in Palma, Spain, is a new data center launched by the Government of the Balearic Islands. It is designed to a Tier III-equivalent standard, offering a stated availability of over 99.982 percent. This facility is integrated with the existing Sant Pere data processing center, creating a distributed and redundant architecture. Each data center can independently handle 100 percent of technological operations, significantly reducing reliance on a single location for critical government systems and applications. The infrastructure incorporates redundancy in electrical, cooling, and communications systems, featuring a closed-loop cooling system. This project is part of a strategy to maintain public control over digital service infrastructure and improve disaster recovery capabilities. The distributed architecture allows for maintenance at one site while the other continues operations, enhancing resilience and control over public data services.
