Sierra DC has announced plans to develop one of Spain’s largest AI-focused data centers in Escúzar, Granada. The €1 billion project will be located within the CITAI innovation zone and is designed to support advanced AI model training rather than traditional data hosting.
The facility will be built and operated by Sierra DC, which will lease infrastructure capacity to major cloud and AI companies. The developer aims to attract hyperscale tenants such as Google Cloud or Amazon, offering turnkey access to energy, certifications, and scalable compute environments.
Granada was selected due to its available grid capacity, unlike other Andalusian cities facing network saturation, and its growing tech ecosystem. Local energy firm Cuerva is a leading candidate to supply power to the site.
