Kakao aims to strengthen its resiliency and support AI-driven technologies, evolving its KakaoTalk business while expanding its digital infrastructure. The company selected this location to enhance server capacity for AI and data analysis, ensuring long-term scalability.
The facility is expected to be completed by 2028, doubling the 40MW capacity of Kakao’s existing Ansan Data Center. Kakao has received approval from Korea Electric Power Corporation for the project and finalized plans through its board of directors. The company has emphasized energy efficiency and next-generation computing capabilities, integrating advanced fire prevention systems to avoid incidents like the 2022 SK Group data center fire.
