Africell Sierra Leone

Africell Sierra Leone is building a state-of-the-art data center at its Lumley Beach Road office in Freetown. This facility is designed to significantly expand Africell's data storage capabilities, serving not only its mobile telecommunication services but also offering capacity for government and non-governmental organizations. The project aligns with Sierra Leone's commitment to digital transformation and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The data center will function as the 'center of the Africell network' in Sierra Leone, initially serving as a Disaster Recovery Center to ensure network resilience and redundancy for voice and data services. It is also described as 'multifunctional,' with plans to host third-party infrastructure and data, providing storage for disaster recovery and redundancy for various entities, including private companies.

Furthermore, the facility is intended to support the hosting of a second undersea cable for Sierra Leone in the future. The construction marks a significant milestone in Sierra Leone's technological advancement, reflecting the country's conducive business environment fostering private sector investment and expansion.
