Telconet, a leading LATAM communications company awarded the EFQM Global Award 2023 – 4 Stars, has broken ground on its first 1.5 MW data center in Costa del Este, Panama, with an investment exceeding 10 million USD. In the initial phase, the facility will house 160 racks and aims to achieve a Tier 3 certification to meet rigorous availability and performance standards.
The data center will link on the Pacific coast to Telconet’s dedicated submarine cable that spans 4,900 km from southern Florida through Panama to Ecuador, ensuring high-capacity, low-latency connectivity across the region.
With the guidance and support of PROPANAMA, Telconet secured all necessary permits from Panamanian authorities, fast-tracking the center’s launch. This project further solidifies Panama’s role as the Technology Hub of the Americas.
