The new MC1 Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centre creates a regional interconnection hub with ultra-low latencies between global business markets.
This facility is a joint venture with Omantel, but fully operated by Equinix. It was announced in 2018 with 23,600+ square feet of colocation space with a capacity for 725 cabinets. The site has space to upgrade to 2,150 cabinets.
Omantel operates multiple cable landing stations in the region, and as such the Equinix MC1 site is also a cable landing station for Oman Australia Cable and has termination to AAE-1 as well.
