Olkaria EcoCloud Data Centre

Olkaria EcoCloud Data Centre, located at the KenGen Green Energy Park in Naivasha, Kenya, is positioned as Africa's first fully green, geothermal-powered data center. Project Eagle, the company's initial development, broke ground in September 2023. Phase one of this project will deliver 24MW of IT capacity across eight data halls, each designed to accommodate between 300 and 500 racks. The facility is engineered for a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 or less and will utilize an air-cooled chilled water network. As the first investor at the KenGen Green Energy Park, Olkaria EcoCloud will purchase energy from KenGen at a rate of seven cents USD per kilowatt hour, with an expected total consumption of 70MW. This initiative signifies a commitment to sustainable data center development within the African continent.
