CDC Stratford

CDC Data Centres is exploring the development of a new data center facility on New Zealand's North Island, located in Stratford, Taranaki. This potential project, undertaken in partnership with Contact Energy, aims to support critical and sovereign workloads for sectors including government, public services, healthcare, emergency services, scientific research, and financial institutions.

The proposed site benefits from existing energy and connectivity infrastructure, including high-capacity terrestrial and subsea fiber optic cables providing access to Auckland and international networks. Electricity for the facility will be sourced through a long-term contract, leveraging Contact Energy's renewable development pipeline, aligning with CDC's commitment to 100% renewable energy for its New Zealand operations. The design will incorporate a closed-loop cooling system, a feature utilized in CDC's existing facilities.

This project is currently in the exploration stage, with any development contingent upon due diligence, consenting, and commercial agreements. CDC emphasizes its role in providing secure, in-country data infrastructure for essential services.
