The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has launched its new Tier III data center in Nagarjun, Kathmandu, Nepal. This three-storey facility houses 36 servers across four network rooms and is equipped with two 1MW generators and two 300 KVA modular UPS units. The data center is designed to support the automation of the electricity distribution system for Kathmandu Valley and will facilitate the creation of a private cloud for NEA's data storage. A fiber optic route connects the new facility to the authority's head office and its existing data center in Ratnapark, which will serve as a temporary disaster recovery site. The project, a collaboration with Chinese firm Yantai Dongfag Wisdom Electric Company and supported by the Asian Development Bank, commenced in November 2021.
