Ncell’s Nakkhu Data Center in Lalitpur, Nepal, is a landmark facility developed by the Axiata-owned telecom operator to strengthen the country’s digital backbone. Located just south of Kathmandu, it is currently the largest data center in Nepal, with an investment of approximately Rs 2 billion ($15.1 million).
The two-story facility spans 1,530 square meters and features a prefabricated containerized design engineered to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude nine on the Richter scale. It houses 250 racks across three data halls and offers up to 5MW of total capacity, with a redundant design load of 2.25MW.
Built in collaboration with Huawei, the data center supports both colocation services and Ncell’s internal operations. It is reportedly rated Tier III. Construction began in 2018 and was completed in 2021, with the official launch announced in early 2023.
