Vodacom Matola Data Center

Vodacom's data center in Maputo, Mozambique, represents a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation journey. Located in Tchumene, Matola, on the outskirts of Maputo, this state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in March 2025. It is a Tier III data center, ensuring high resilience and reliability, with an initial capacity of 128 racks that can expand to over 500. The center is carrier-neutral, allowing multiple telecommunications operators to access secure storage solutions.

This $25 million investment is designed to support Mozambique's growing demand for digital services, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce. It also offers direct access to the 2Africa subsea cable, enhancing connectivity and reducing latency. The facility aims to bolster digital sovereignty by enabling local data storage and processing, reducing reliance on international centers.
