The Malawi National Data Center, launched in Blantyre, is a significant step in the country's digital transformation. Built by Huawei, this facility is designed to host all government-wide systems, ensuring interoperability between public and private sector platforms.

The data center is part of the Malawi National Fibre Backbone Project, which began in 2017, constructing 1,386 km of aerial optical cables to connect major cities. It aligns with Malawi 2063 (MW2063), the country's vision for robust ICT infrastructure to drive economic growth.
