Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ)

The IIJ GIO Shiroi Data Center, located in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, represents a cutting-edge facility designed to meet the burgeoning demands of digital transformation. Opened in May 2019, this campus is equipped to handle the increasing needs for 5G, IoT, AI, and cloud services. The center boasts a modular system that enhances construction efficiency, allowing for rapid expansion and cost-effectiveness.

In July 2023, the campus expanded with a second building, reflecting its commitment to scaling alongside market growth. The site spans 40,000 square meters and is envisioned to support up to 6,000 racks. Energy efficiency is a cornerstone of the campus's design, featuring outside-air cooling systems and plans for solar power generation.

Operational excellence is achieved through automation and AI, with robots performing security and maintenance tasks, reducing the need for human intervention. The Shiroi Data Center is more than a housing facility for IT equipment; it's a hub for innovation and research, actively exploring advancements in wireless communication technologies.
