The Takamatsu City Data Center, operated by Hi-Res Kagawa, opened in December 2024 as the first GPU-specialized facility for AI development in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions. It’s located in the renovated RIST Building in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture.
The site houses 408 NVIDIA HGX H200 GPUs, optimized for high-performance computing and large-scale AI workloads. It supports Hi-Res’s GPUSOROBAN cloud platform, which serves industries across Japan with scalable GPU resources.
The project received up to ¥7.7 billion in subsidies under METI’s Cloud Program Supply Securing Plan. Total investment reached approximately ¥10 billion.
By repurposing an existing research facility, Hi-Res reduced construction time and cost. The center complements their Genkai Town site and reflects a broader strategy of regional revitalization through digital infrastructure.
