Hi-Res Inc. is developing a new GPU data center at the former Ayagami Junior High School site in Ayagawa Town, Kagawa Prefecture. This facility will be part of the company’s expanding GPUSOROBAN cloud platform, designed to support advanced AI workloads across Japan.
The project is backed by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry under the Cloud Program Supply Securing Plan, and aims to repurpose dormant public infrastructure for high-performance computing. It follows the company’s model of converting unused buildings into energy-efficient GPU hubs.
Hi-Res plans to integrate community engagement into the site, including partnerships with startups and IT education programs for local residents. The Ayagami facility will complement existing data centers in Takamatsu City and Genkai Town, reinforcing the company’s commitment to regional revitalization and sustainable infrastructure development.
