FRT Corporation operates a multi-story data center in Okinawa, Japan, designed with seismic isolation to remain fully operational even after a magnitude 6 earthquake. The facility spans five floors and offers 2,292 square meters of server room space, one of the largest in the prefecture, with reinforced flooring to support heavy equipment.
Power resilience is a core feature, with dual 1,500kVA gas turbine generators, four UPS units (400kVA each, N+1), and multiple high-voltage feeds (6.6kV) from separate substations. The building also includes advanced fire suppression systems, 24/7 monitoring via a dedicated Network Operations Center (NOC), and carrier-neutral connectivity.
Amenities include rest areas, nap rooms, and showers, supporting long-term operations and business continuity. Completed in November 2002, the facility reflects Okinawa Electric Power Group’s expertise in secure energy infrastructure.
