The Circular Park Data Center, located in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima, Japan, is a significant data center development project. Spearheaded by Kai Shin Digital Infrastructure, a new company established for this purpose, the facility is a collaboration involving China Development Capital (CDIB Capital Group) and Kyushu Electric Power Group's Circular Park Kyushu (CPQ).
With an ambitious initial power capacity of 350 megawatts, it is positioned to be one of Japan's largest data centers. The project aims to address the growing demand driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and will also focus on developing related industries, including data center maintenance, parts manufacturing, and the recycling of end-of-life servers.
The site is situated on the premises of CPQ, which is dedicated to creating a recycling-oriented society. While acknowledging the presence of the Kawauchi Nuclear Power Plant, the project intends to secure electricity supply, including from renewable energy sources, to cater to environmentally conscious clients.
Construction is slated to commence once power supply is secured and necessary permits are obtained. The initiative has received support from both Satsuma Kawauchi City and the Kagoshima Prefectural Office.
