The Genkai Town Data Center is a GPU-optimized facility developed by Hi-Res Inc. in Saga Prefecture, Japan. It was built by repurposing the former Yutoku Elementary School, which had been closed since 2015.
The site was provided rent-free by the local government, supporting regional revitalization and sustainable infrastructure reuse. Hi-Res renovated the building to house high-performance computing systems for AI and simulation workloads.
The center features NVIDIA RTX A4000 GPUs, with capacity for up to 120 units. It serves as the backbone of Hi-Res’s GPUSOROBAN cloud platform, offering scalable GPU resources to businesses and researchers across Japan.
This project reflects a practical model for converting dormant public assets into advanced digital infrastructure.
