APL Kitakyushu Data Centre is a large-scale digital infrastructure project developed by Asia Pacific Land (APL) in partnership with Global Compute Infrastructure (GCI). Located on a 15.5-acre site in Kitakyushu, Japan, the facility is designed to support 120MW of total power load, with the first 60MW phase expected to go online in September 2027. The data center aims to strengthen Japan’s digital ecosystem, providing critical infrastructure for AI, hyperscale cloud services, and enterprise deployments.
The project is part of a broader initiative to establish Kyushu as Japan’s third major data center hub, offering geographic diversification from Tokyo and Osaka. Kitakyushu was selected for its low electricity costs, carbon-free energy sources, and strong fiber connectivity, including direct links to Busan, South Korea, and other Asia-Pacific markets. The facility will play a key role in supporting regional and international digital operations.
APL and GCI have secured additional land and power resources, allowing for a total expansion to 250MW by 2029. The investment reflects a commitment to technological innovation, job creation, and collaboration with local and national governments. By leveraging Kitakyushu’s strategic advantages, the data center is set to become a cornerstone of Japan’s evolving digital infrastructure.
