The Orange Grand-Bassam data center, located in the Village of Innovation and Technology (VITIB) in Grand-Bassam, Ivory Coast, is a Tier III-certified facility commissioned in 2016. Spanning 16,600 sqm, it offers 1.3MW of capacity and houses IT and telecommunication equipment for Orange's African and Middle Eastern subsidiaries.
A significant development is the addition of a 355kWp solar power plant, operational since October 2022. This plant, comprising 781 panels across the roof, grounds, and solar car park canopies, covers 50% of the data center's daytime energy consumption (7am to 6pm). This initiative is part of Orange's broader commitment to achieve net-zero carbon by 2040, contributing to a 48% renewable energy rate for the facility. The solar project was developed in partnership with Butec Energies & Services, supporting the energy transition in West Africa.
