BIC Incubatori FVG, the very first Italian company incubator, recently enhanced its digital infrastructure becoming a champion digital innovation hub.
BIC 12.000+ square metre campus presently hosts 36 companies employing 370+
The innovative and unique design of the new network provides each tenant with a safe, reliable, high-speed connectivity while preserving independence in the IT governance.
Each of the 60+ workshops, laboratories, warehouse, offices are provided with a 12 OM4 fibre pair connection, one 24 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+, 4 10GE SFP+ port switch with double power supply (UPS and power engine) with a redundant 2x10GBE connection to the BIC data centre. When two or more laboratories are in use by the same tenant, they belong to the same dedicated and segregated network.
All of the active devices in the data centre are redundant and high availability. Two different providers connect to the internet via a 10GBE fibre optics each.
Each tenants receives an IP v4 address withing the BIC assigned C class prefix announced via BGP by the BIC autonomous system. L2 and L3 internal configurations are free for the tenant to choose.
Each tenant is provided with a redundant virtual firewall in high availability.
Each employee could be granted access to the campuswide (indoor and outdoor) wi-fi infrastructure, connected to the dedicated network of the relevant tenant.
Apart from the above listed standard setup, BIC can provide the tenants with additional digital services:
High availability laboratory switch stack setup, higher bitrate connection up to 2x100Gbps, implementation of dedicated network services such as DHCP, DNS, NTP,… in high availability.
Advanced firewall configuration managed by BIC or own management of the virtual firewall by the tenant.
Additional single IP v4 addresses or ranges of 4, 8 or 16.
Guest high volume wireless access for large events
Other services are specifically designed together with the tenant.
Data centre services
The BIC data centre is design to host tenant’s devices in 19” racks, each provided with double UPS/UPS + power engine supply. The data centre has a redundant free-cooling system and a fire detection and extinguishing system.
Each device (server, storage, network device, …) is connected to the appropriate tenant’s dedicated network through aggregated connections (max 8 LACP active ports up to 10Gbps) in a redundant high availability switch stack. The rack switches are connected to the core network at 2x 100Gbps
