Open Fiber has launched a new edge data center in San Giovanni Teatino, near Pescara, Italy. This marks the company’s third edge facility, following deployments in Rome and Milan. While specific technical details weren’t disclosed, the site is designed to support low-latency applications such as AI, IoT, and 5G by placing compute resources closer to end users.
The Pescara site is part of Open Fiber’s national strategy to build a distributed network of up to 100 edge data centers across Italy, with at least 15 planned by mid-2026. The initiative aims to decentralize data infrastructure and accelerate regional digital development.
