Qarnot Brescia

Qarnot’s Brescia data center, launched in June 2025, marks the company’s first deployment in Italy and a bold step in sustainable digital infrastructure. Located at the Lamarmora power plant in Brescia, Lombardy, the facility is developed in partnership with Italian energy firm A2A and is directly integrated into the city’s extensive district heating network.

The data center uses liquid-cooled QBx computing pods, which recover waste heat at 65°C—ideal for direct use in heating systems without the need for additional energy input. In its first phase, the site operates 30 QBx units housed in two pods, generating approximately 800 MWh of thermal energy annually.

A second phase, dubbed “Qarnot 2,” is already in design. It will expand the deployment into the former coal storage area of the plant and is expected to produce 16 GWh of thermal energy per year, enough to heat around 1,350 apartments. This phase is backed by European funding and aims to be operational within two years.
