Echelon Data Centres is launching its first Italian facility with a planned 250MW campus near Milan, marking its second major project in mainland Europe.
The site, located in Treviglio near Bergamo, spans 37 acres and was previously operated by Elcograf as a printing plant. Echelon will initially repurpose the existing building to deliver 72MW of IT capacity, followed by a second building offering 120MW.
The LIN10 campus will be powered by grid electricity, with 100MW available immediately via an existing substation. Sustainability features include on-site solar panels and generators running on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) instead of diesel.
Construction is set to begin immediately, with operations expected to commence within 18 to 24 months. The €3 billion project is backed by Starwood Capital Group, which is also supporting Echelon’s broader plan to develop 1.5GW of capacity across new sites over the next five years.
