Red Admiral DC Westmeath

Red Admiral DC, a subsidiary of Lumcloon Energy, is planning a groundbreaking 250MW data center campus in County Westmeath, Ireland. Located across the townlands of Kiltotan, Collinstown, Oldtown, and Farthingstown near Rochfortbridge, the project is designed to be Ireland’s first energy-independent data center. It will integrate a 160MW Solid Oxide Fuel Cell system, a 250MW Battery Energy Storage System, and a 130MW solar photovoltaic array to generate, store, and manage its own energy onsite.

The development is being advanced in partnership with South Korea’s SK Ecoplant and is currently in the pre-application phase with An Bord Pleanála. Red Admiral aims to support the national grid while minimizing reliance on it, contributing surplus power during periods of high renewable generation. The facility will feature six two-story data halls with advanced cooling and heat recovery systems, designed to meet LEED standards and optimize water conservation.

Strategically positioned next to the M6 motorway, the site offers ideal conditions for cloud and AI data processing. The project is expected to deliver substantial economic benefits to the Midlands region, including hundreds of construction and long-term operational jobs. It also complements Lumcloon’s nearby Castlelost Flexible Generation project, which includes a 275MW gas-fired power plant and a 65MW battery storage facility.
