Herbata Ltd is proposing a €3 billion hyperscale data center campus in County Kildare, Ireland, spanning three hectares across Jigginstown, Halverstown, and Newhall near the M7 Business Park. The project includes six two-story buildings, each offering 30MW of IT capacity for a total of 180MW at full build-out. It reflects growing demand for scalable digital infrastructure within the region’s designated data center zones.
To address energy and environmental concerns raised during planning consultations, Herbata has updated its strategy to integrate more clean energy. The campus will source 50 percent of its power through renewable energy purchase agreements, with the remaining supply coming from an on-site natural gas facility. The developer aims to transition this power plant toward hydrogen fuel and biomethane, cutting lifetime carbon emissions from an initial 28 million tons to an estimated 4.5 million tons.
The application is currently under review by Kildare County Council, with a decision expected by late August 2025. If approved, the project would reinforce Naas’ emergence as a data infrastructure hub, complementing other regional developments like Microsoft’s planned campus and Leixlip’s repurposed HP site.
